Pulborough Community Allotment: Growing Strong, Growing Together

The Pulborough Community Allotment continues to flourish this season, with new faces, new crops, and steady progress across the site. It’s becoming a haven of what can be achieved when local residents come together with energy, curiosity, and a shared love of growing.

Welcoming New Volunteers

We’re delighted to welcome some new volunteers who have joined the team in recent weeks. Their enthusiasm has already made a difference, helping with ongoing improvements across the allotment. Every pair of hands strengthens the project, and it’s wonderful to see the group expanding.

What’s Growing Right Now

The allotment is bursting with life. Among the crops growing this summer:

  • Tomatoes
  • Courgettes
  • Strawberries
  • Rhubarb
  • Apples and pears
  • Grapes
  • Sweetcorn

And in a delightful surprise, volunteers recently discovered a goji berry plant – a superfood - growing quietly in one corner of the site.  A rare and exciting addition to the allotment’s edible buffet.

Improvements on Site

Several important upgrades have been completed:

  • New raised beds have been installed, improving accessibility and making crop planting easier.
  • A dense blackthorn bush has been removed, opening up space for future planting and making the area safer and easier to maintain.

These improvements help ensure the allotment remains welcoming, productive, and manageable for everyone involved.

Thank You to All Volunteers

A heartfelt thank you goes to every volunteer who generously gives their time, energy, and care to the allotment. Whether you’ve planted, watered, weeded, planned, or simply encouraged others, your contribution is valued.

Call for New Volunteers

The allotment is thriving — and we’d love the team to grow with it. If you enjoy being outdoors, want to learn more about growing food, or simply want to meet new people while contributing to a community project, you’ll be warmly welcomed.

No experience is needed. Just bring enthusiasm and a willingness to get stuck in.
