Employment Hub Offers Free Support to Help Horsham District Residents Back Into Work
Described as a trusted service where people can be listened to, and with more than 500 enquiries and dozens of successful employment outcomes already achieved, the Employment Hub offers a valuable free service for local residents who need practical support, confidence-building and guidance on their next career step.
Practical support available
Residents in Pulborough who are looking for work, considering a career change, returning to employment after a break, or seeking to build their confidence can access free one-to-one support through the Horsham District Employment Hub. The service has recently secured further funding and will continue operating for a third year after demonstrating positive results across the district.
Delivered by Adam Knight & Associates in partnership with Horsham District Council, the Employment Hub provides tailored employment support designed to help people move into work, training, self-employment or further career development.
What support does the Employment Hub provide?
The Hub offers personalised guidance rather than a one-size-fits-all approach. Residents can receive help with:
- Creating or improving a CV
- Completing stronger job applications
- Searching for suitable vacancies
- Interview preparation
- Identifying transferable skills
- Training and skills guidance
- Building confidence and career motivation
Accessing specialist support services where needed
Participants can also be referred to other organisations offering specialist assistance, helping address barriers that may be preventing someone from entering or returning to employment.
Who can use the service?
The Employment Hub is available to residents across the Horsham District, including those living in Pulborough and surrounding villages. The programme is particularly helpful for people who:
- Are unemployed and looking for work
- Have been out of the workplace for some time
- Want to improve their job prospects
- Need support identifying skills and career opportunities
- Are considering training or self-employment routes
How much does it cost?
The service is completely free for residents. Funding has been secured through the Sussex and Brighton Strategic Authority, enabling Horsham District Council to continue the programme.
How many people has the Hub helped?
The Employment Hub has already built a strong record of supporting local people.
According to Horsham District Council, during its first two years the Hub:
- Received more than 500 enquiries
- Registered 179 participants
- Supported 114 people to complete the programme
- Achieved 31 confirmed employment outcomes
- Made 82 specialist referrals for additional support Those figures helped secure funding for a third year of operation.
What are the benefits for Pulborough residents?
For residents of Pulborough, the Hub provides access to professional employment support without the cost of private coaching or careers advice.
The service can help local jobseekers develop practical skills, improve confidence, identify training opportunities and navigate an increasingly competitive jobs market. It may be particularly valuable for people returning to work after caring responsibilities, redundancy, illness or retirement, as well as younger adults seeking direction in their careers.
At a community level, helping more residents into employment can support household incomes, strengthen local businesses and contribute to economic resilience across Pulborough and the wider Horsham District.
Backed by external funding
Horsham District Council recently announced that funding from the Sussex and Brighton Strategic Authority will allow both the Employment Hub and related employment support programmes to continue.
Councillor Jonathan Taylor, Horsham District Council Cabinet Member for Enterprise and Property, said the programmes, “Have a strong track record of helping residents move towards employment and training and encouraged anyone seeking support to get in touch.”
