The Future of Music is here in Pulborough

The Future of Music Programme, aimed at local young people aged 5 to 18 years-old, run by music and performing arts coach, Bev Macklin and supported by Pulborough Parish Council, is entering a new phase of momentum this Autumn, with rising student numbers and strengthened community partnerships.

Due to local demand, the programme is now seeking a volunteer to help run it and more tutors.

Growing Participation in Singing and Music Lessons

Following a successful launch, new students have begun singing, guitar and piano lessons, with pairing arrangements now underway to support their progression.

Strengthening Local Partnerships

A meeting with St Mary’s School, Pulborough, has led to the launch of collaborative programmes. This partnership aims to widen access to music education and create new pathways for young people to engage with the arts.

A collaboration with the West Chiltington Silver Band is creating new opportunities for young people to learn to play brass instruments and when they are ready, to join experienced, established players performing at local events such as the ever-popular village harvest fair.

Live Performance Opportunities

Live performance events are already running to give young musicians valuable real‑world experience and build their confidence:

• @the Riverside – Last Sunday of the month
• Local annual events – list updated on Facebook page

These events will help young performers develop stage skills, increase community visibility, and take meaningful steps in their musical journeys.

Volunteers

• Over 18
• Passional about music and performance arts
• Eager to work as part of a inspirational team to nuture tomorrow’s musical stars
• Must meet safeguarding requirements

Music Tutors

• With proven experience of teaching young people
• Flexible availability
• Offering low cost or free tuition
• All types of instruments

The Future of Music Programme can provide musical instruments to new students when they sign up for lessons.
